LG Energy Solution Choi Sang-hoon and Kim Sung-hwan of 21st Century Award for Engineer Award in July

 

 

(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Moon Dayoung announced on the 11th that the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Promotion Association have selected Choi Sang-hoon, managing director of LG Energy Solution, and Kim Sung-hwan, CEO of 21st Century, as winners of the Korea Engineer Award.

The “Korea Engineer Award” is an award to encourage technological innovation in industrial sites and create a climate that favors engineers, and each month, one large and small business engineer is selected to award the Minister of Science and ICT and 5 million won in prize money.

 

Kim Sung-hwan, CEO of 21st Century Co., Ltd., a small and medium-sized company winner, is an engineer specializing in developing ultra-precision processing parts and developed industrial cutting equipment and vacuum mold processing technology using microwave lasers for the first time in Korea.

It has a number of patents such as development of new process technology that combines ELID (electrolytic in-process dressing) grinding technology and laser technology. ELID grinding technology refers to automatically peeling off abrasive powder on the grinding wheel after grinding by giving a fine electric shock to the grinding wheel.

CEO Kim said, “Grafting new technologies and localization of production technologies are one of the biggest challenges of Korean SMEs. We will continue to expand the proportion of researchers and secure intellectual property rights to become a global technology advanced company.”
